Suprainfinit Gallery, the transformation from exhibition space to coffee shop began with a decision not to erase what was already there. Located within a socialist-era building in Bucharest, the interior was approached as a space with several overlapping histories, architectural, cultural and material, that could become part of its new identity. Rather than restoring the shell to an idealized condition, the project retains the traces of the building’s previous lives. The original stone flooring remains, while the ceiling is left exposed, preserving its uneven surfaces, imperfections and accumulated marks. These existing elements establish a deliberately raw framework for the new intervention and resist the polished uniformity often associated with contemporary hospitality interiors. Against this backdrop, the café was conceived as an informal collection of objects rather than a fully coordinated interior. Vintage and reclaimed furniture is combined with simple contemporary pieces, allowing different periods and design languages to coexist. Black leather seating, tubular chrome tables and understated chairs introduce a familiar, almost domestic quality, while their apparent lack of preciousness encourages the space to be inhabited freely. The intention was to create an interior that feels assembled over time rather than designed all at once, comfortable, slightly eclectic and deliberately unpretentious. The most assertive intervention is the wallpaper that wraps walls, columns and architectural fragments throughout the space. Conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the French verdure tapestry, its historic landscape motif is enlarged to an architectural scale and intentionally pixelated. From a distance, it reads as an immersive landscape; viewed more closely, the image dissolves into a distinctly contemporary digital texture. This oscillation between representation and abstraction allows something historically decorative to become almost architectural. More importantly, the wallpaper establishes a conceptual bridge between the building’s recent past as an art gallery and its new life as a café. Rather than eliminating the curatorial character of the former Suprainfinit space, the walls continue to operate as surfaces for display. Paintings are placed directly against the dense landscape, turning the wallpaper simultaneously into background and exhibit. Art is no longer isolated against the neutrality of the white cube, but embedded within a layered visual field and incorporated into everyday life. Its dark, muted palette also changes the perception of the existing concrete volume. Together with the deep brown curtains, it softens the hardness of the original shell and gives the café a more intimate scale. The curtains form a continuous, tactile backdrop against which artworks appear almost suspended, while also introducing a domestic quality that contrasts with the exposed ceiling and existing stone floor. Elsewhere, the intervention remains intentionally restrained. The bar is treated as a singular dark volume, while stainless steel, chrome and reflective glass recur throughout the furniture, introducing a cooler register against the browns and ochres of the textiles and wallpaper. Small pools of coloured light punctuate this otherwise subdued palette, creating unexpected moments within the interior. The result sits somewhere between café, living room and exhibition space. Instead of replacing one identity with another, the project allows them to overlap. The socialist-era architecture remains legible; the memory of the gallery persists through the presence and display of art; reclaimed and vintage objects introduce another layer of time; and the café brings a new, everyday occupation to the space. Beans &amp; Dots is therefore conceived less as a finished composition than as an inhabited backdrop, one capable of accumulating objects, artworks, people and stories over time. space, the ambition was not to reinvent the brand’s identity but to allow it to evolve. Rather than beginning from a blank slate, the project was conceived as the next chapter in an ongoing story, preserving and reinterpreting many of the elements that had come to define the original Lunet Signature Store. The first store established a retail environment that felt closer to a living room than to a conventional optical shop. Curtains, mirrors, domestic furniture and carefully choreographed moments of interaction transformed the process of choosing eyewear into a slower and more personal experience. As the brand grew, the challenge became how to preserve this atmosphere while accommodating a significantly larger footprint. Instead of replacing what already existed, the project embraces continuity. Display elements, furniture pieces and architectural devices from the original store were carefully dismantled, relocated and integrated into the new setting. Familiar objects reappear in new configurations, carrying with them the memory of the first space while adapting to a different architectural context. Sustainability is not approached here as a technical exercise but as a design attitude, an understanding that objects can migrate, evolve and acquire new meanings over time. The new interior is organized around a strong visual gesture that has become its defining identity: a custom carpet composed of two tones, Midnight and Sky. Radiating from a central point, its graphic pattern unfolds across the floor like rays of light, creating a sense of movement and direction while visually connecting the various areas of the store. More than a floor finish, the carpet acts as a landscape, anchoring the entire project and lending it a recognizable character. Set against a soft sage-green architectural envelope, the interplay between Midnight and Sky introduces depth, atmosphere and a subtle sense of immersion. Throughout the space, curtains continue to define soft thresholds rather than fixed boundaries. The store reveals itself gradually through layers, inviting exploration and discovery. Mirrors amplify this effect, multiplying perspectives and dissolving the limits of the interior. Reflections overlap with objects, displays and visitors, creating an environment that is constantly shifting and never fully perceived at once. Particular attention is given to the experience of trying on eyewear. Positioned beside the fitting stations, light rings frame mirrors suspended at their center. Simultaneously playful and graphic, they punctuate the interior as recognizable landmarks while reinforcing the welcoming and approachable atmosphere that has become synonymous with the Lunet universe. More than functional mirrors, they become small architectural devices that celebrate the act of looking: at the eyewear, at the space and, ultimately, at oneself. Despite its increased scale, the store retains the intimacy and warmth of the original project. The interior avoids the clinical language traditionally associated with optical retail, opting instead for an atmosphere that encourages conversation, curiosity and a slower engagement with the objects on display. Eyewear is presented not as a technical product, but as part of a broader domestic landscape shaped by furniture, materials, color and human interaction. The result is neither a replica of the original store nor a complete reinvention. Instead, the project demonstrates how a retail environment can evolve organically, carrying its history forward while adapting to new circumstances. unfolded over three years as a precise and restrained intervention, conceived as both a private home and a vessel for a significant all-female 20th and 21st century art collection, including works by Louise Nevelson, Tracey Emin, Judy Chicago, and Andra Ursuța. The primary goal was to create a calm white architectural canvas—an interior framework where the collection could expand, breathe, and fully unfold without competition. Heavily altered during the communist era, the house had lost many of its defining proportions and details. Rather than pursuing a nostalgic restoration, the project focused on preserving what remained while re-establishing clarity through a contemporary architectural language rooted in permanence and discipline. Circulation was rethought, spatial hierarchies were restored, and constraints—structural and bureaucratic—became tools to refine the layout into a coherent sequence of rooms, each operating as a distinct viewing environment. Three key elements were preserved and restored to anchor the building’s historical continuity: the façade and two staircases. The central wooden staircase was fully restored to reclaim its role as the home’s vertical spine, while the secondary concrete and terrazzo staircase was cleaned and polished, retaining its original integrity. Together, they embody the project’s approach—integrating time rather than erasing it. Material choices reinforced the atmosphere of quiet gravitas. Ceppo di Gré stone frames thresholds and openings, dark herringbone floors ground the luminous palette, and marble appears selectively, most notably in a monolithic dining table. Subtle brass and muted gold accents introduce depth without disrupting the overall calm. Furniture and lighting were curated as sculptural extensions of the architecture—functional yet expressive—supporting the gallery-like quality of the space while maintaining domestic warmth. Even secondary spaces were treated with curatorial intent: in the guest powder room, an unused shower alcove was transformed into a display niche, turning a purely functional zone into an intimate exhibition moment. Ultimately, the renovation proposes a home defined by architectural restraint and spatial clarity—a quiet, deliberate setting where history is acknowledged through preserved fragments, and where a into a calm interior landscape where material contrasts and carefully framed perspectives shape the spatial experience. Located in Bucharest and oriented toward expansive views of the lake, the project explores how subtle architectural gestures can redefine the atmosphere of everyday domestic life. At the heart of the apartment, the living space is organized around a continuous wall entirely clad in mirror. Rather than functioning simply as a decorative element, the reflective surface becomes an architectural device that amplifies light and extends the perceived depth of the interior. The mirror wall captures fragments of the surrounding landscape and multiplies the presence of the lake view, allowing the exterior scenery to become part of the spatial composition. Floating bookshelves are carefully inserted in front of this reflective surface, appearing to hover lightly within the space. Their slim horizontal lines introduce rhythm and scale, transforming the wall into a layered composition of reflection, objects and shadow. Books and personal artifacts become integral to the architecture, reinforcing the domestic character of the interior. Color is introduced through the ceiling, which is painted in a soft tone that subtly envelops the space. This chromatic gesture shifts the perception of the room by drawing the gaze upward and creating a delicate contrast with the otherwise restrained palette of materials. The colored ceiling establishes a calm atmospheric field that unifies the entire space. The architectural composition is further defined by a continuous black plinth that runs along the base of the walls. This element grounds the interior and provides a visual base for the lighter surfaces above. At the opposite end of the vertical plane, a thin black trim outlines the ceiling perimeter, introducing a graphic line that frames the room and reinforces the precision of the architectural detailing. Together, these elements create an interior defined by subtle contrasts: reflection and solidity, color and neutrality, lightness and graphic definition. The apartment ultimately becomes a composed spatial environment where architecture, objects and landscape interact in quiet balance, transforming everyday living into a carefully choreographed former industrial space into a vibrant environment where architecture, objects and color interact as part of a carefully orchestrated spatial composition. Rather than presenting furniture as isolated pieces, the project frames the showroom as a sequence of domestic scenes, allowing visitors to experience the collection within atmospheres that evoke contemporary living. The large open space is structured through a series of architectural interventions that subtly organize the interior without fragmenting it. A central elevated platform wrapped in pastel-toned Sottsass veneer panels, by Alpi Wood, acts as the primary spatial anchor, defining different zones while maintaining visual continuity across the showroom. The stepped transitions and surrounding seating areas create a fluid topography that invites visitors to move gradually through the space, discovering different furniture arrangements from shifting viewpoints. Color and materiality play a central role in shaping the identity of the showroom. A soft turquoise envelope, applied to walls, ceilings and custom shelving, creates a unified architectural background against which the furniture pieces stand out. This monochromatic field contrasts with the varied textures and colors of the displayed objects, ranging from warm woods and upholstered surfaces to glossy plastics and polished metals. The result is an environment that feels both curated and playful, balancing gallery-like clarity with the informality of domestic interiors. Large textile curtains and translucent partitions further articulate the space, introducing a degree of flexibility while filtering daylight from the tall industrial windows. These soft boundaries allow different living scenarios to emerge – from lounge settings and dining areas to more intimate corners, while preserving the overall openness of the showroom. Lighting plays an important atmospheric role. Suspended spherical pendants, track lighting and sculptural lamps contribute to a layered lighting scheme that highlights individual pieces while reinforcing the spatial rhythm of the interior. Reflections from mirrored surfaces and metallic objects add further depth, animating the space as visitors move through it. Ultimately, the showroom operates not only as a display environment but as a spatial narrative about contemporary living. temporary vacation apartment for a young couple—an urban escape designed to feel suspended from the city’s pace. Rather than treating the attic as residual space, the project embraces its pitched geometry and exposed structure, transforming the uppermost level into a luminous interior where leisure and wellness become the primary program. The architecture is defined by clarity and restraint. A pale, minimal palette amplifies daylight filtered through a series of skylights, while the existing roof trusses—kept exposed and softly toned—introduce rhythm and spatial depth. Their presence anchors the apartment in its original typology, while the intervention reframes it as calm, contemporary, and deliberately curated. The plan unfolds as a continuous volume, with sleeping, living, training, and recovery integrated into a single open sequence. Instead of partitions, zoning is achieved through furniture placement, material shifts, and controlled lighting. In the bedroom area, a low upholstered bed and soft textiles create a quiet domestic atmosphere, punctuated by sculptural lighting and a subtle expressive accent that prevents the space from becoming overly neutral. Wellness functions are treated as architectural destinations. A gym zone is defined by mirrored walls that multiply perspective and extend the perceived boundaries of the attic, while a coffered timber ceiling introduces warmth and intimacy. The kitchen is conceived as a monolithic insertion—white marble surfaces paired with richly grained wood cabinetry—balancing precision with tactility. A sauna and massage space complete the apartment’s retreat-like character, reinforcing the project’s central ambition: to transform temporary living into a restorative ritual. Through disciplined minimalism, refined materiality, and a carefully calibrated sequence of atmospheres, the attic becomes a serene sanctuary—an elevated interior where the city remains present only carefully choreographed sequence of atmospheres. Located in Bucharest and completed in 2025, the project transforms a conventional apartment into a layered interior landscape tailored to the lifestyle of a young couple. Rather than relying on rigid spatial divisions, the design unfolds through a fluid arrangement of spaces that subtly shift in scale, light and material expression. The apartment is conceived as a continuous interior environment in which living, dining and kitchen areas blend into one another, forming a flexible social core. This open spatial structure allows everyday activities to overlap naturally while maintaining distinct spatial identities through furniture placement, textures and carefully calibrated lighting. Materiality plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the apartment. A restrained palette of natural surfaces and soft tones creates a calm, tactile backdrop, allowing individual elements, custom furniture, sculptural lighting pieces and curated objects, to emerge as focal points within the space. The result is an interior that balances clarity with warmth, combining the precision of contemporary design with a sense of domestic comfort. Furniture is treated not merely as decoration but as an architectural device that structures the interior. Freestanding pieces, built-in storage and custom elements articulate subtle thresholds between different zones without interrupting the spatial continuity. In this way, the apartment avoids conventional corridors and instead encourages movement through a sequence of overlapping rooms and perspectives. Light is another defining component of the design. Natural daylight filters through the apartment, enhancing the textures of the materials and reinforcing the spatial depth of the interior. At night, a carefully composed lighting scheme transforms the apartment into a more intimate setting, highlighting surfaces and objects while maintaining a soft, ambient atmosphere. The project ultimately reflects a contemporary approach to domestic architecture in which flexibility, material sensibility and spatial fluidity take precedence over formal gestures. Apartment V becomes less a collection of rooms and more a cohesive living environment, an urban refuge that combines architectural clarity with a distinctly personal character.
